The Employment Pathway Programme
Empowering neurodiverse Kiwis through work and community
The Employment Pathway Programme supports work for people with disabilities in New Zealand. We help people with learning and intellectual disabilities gain confidence, develop valuable work and life skills, and access meaningful work opportunities.
2024
Individuals participated in school work experience & work trials.
Individuals completed formal, accredited training courses.
Hours dedicated to fitness, learning, and development initiatives.
There are limited options for work for people with disabilities when they leave high school. Many watch their peers go on to further education, apprenticeships or employment. Without a variety of opportunities and the ability to make their own choices, they can feel directionless. That’s where we come in.
Through a wide range of opportunities, our ākonga (learners) are supported to develop their strengths, achieve their aspirations and lead rewarding, self-determined lives.
School Work and Work Trials
We provide individuals the chance to explore a real workplace, understand expectations, and discover their potential. During work trials, our supervisors offer hands-on training across different roles and assess if Kilmarnock is the right fit for their journey.
Supportive Employment Opportunities
At Kilmarnock, we create an inclusive environment where individuals with intellectual disabilities can thrive. Our work spans light manufacturing, assembly, food packing, and recycling, offering meaningful employment and valuable skills development.
Formal Training for Success
Through partnerships with leading educational providers, our team members upskill with NZQA-accredited courses. Past certifications include Food Safety, Health and Safety, and Commercial Cleaning, empowering personal and professional growth.
Health and Wellbeing
Our Flourish programme nurtures physical and mental wellbeing, both on and off the job. From fitness classes and yoga to educational talks and team outings, we ensure our team has a health work-life balance every step of the way.
Transitioning to open employment
When employees are ready to take their next step, we’re here to guide them. Working closely with individuals, their whānau, and potential employers, we identify opportunities and provide tailored support for a smooth transition to mainstream employment.
If you or someone you support is interested in the Employment Pathway Programme, we encourage you to complete and submit an expression of interest form for employment at Kilmarnock.
