Each year, New Zealanders create an average of 19kgs of e-waste per person. We want to raise awareness of this issue, as well as shining the spotlight on the important role Kilmarnock plays in the community.
When old electronics are improperly disposed of, hazardous substances make their way into landfill and our waterways.
We dismantle a variety of electronics that are deemed to be at the end of their life, so that they can be de-manufactured to recover the maximum amount of recyclable materials. Recycling these metals plays an important role when it comes to conserving Aotearoa’s natural resources.
Since 1958, our mission has been to provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Although we operate like a business, we reinvest our income right back into our social mission. One-off and regular donations make a huge difference. Rotary will be asking for a donation from the public on the day to help us with the cost of recycling. All proceeds go to providing more opportunities for our team.
Don’t worry, Kilmarnock’s public electronic recycling drop-off + corporate e-waste partnerships run all year round.
Please note, our regular drop-off is an alternative to landfill, so we provide these services for a small fee. These rates differ from the prices in our E-Day donation guide.
E-Day Christchurch is intended for the public/personal electronics only and we won’t be able to accept any e-waste from businesses. We ask that all business customers look into our corporate e-waste fees and scheme.
